Benzie Area Trail Report – 01/18

Our trails are ride-able. There is Snow, area trails are building little by little. So far we are not disappointed by this little storm we got about 3 to 4 inches the past few days and still more coming today, Saturday another little storm. Cold temps will bring scattered lake effect snow back at night, temps teens to single digits through-out this weekend. Then Sunday a Arctic blast with high of single digits all week, they say. Do proceed with caution!

Rumor has it that we are going to let the sleds pack down the new snow we are getting and the groomers will go out Sunday if all goes well. We are getting Lake Effect again today. It is coming down in buckets right now.

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 01/17

HI all! Thursday now and the Clipper brought us anywhere from 2-6″ plus it’s still coming down! After the melt down of the last couple weeks, we need this and more to get the groomers back out. Hopefully the snowbelt areas will be back in so-so to semi decent shape soon if this snow keeps coming like the forecast calls for. We supposedly have some lake effect coming through Friday and a stronger Clipper coming in Saturday with lake effect after that! So, we’re getting some now so riding is possible at least! But we need more! Unfortunately winds are forecast too so snow’s gonna be blowing around. Temps are supposed to drop after the weekend into next week and stay that way for a week or so, plus there is snow in every days forecast for a week too so by next week at this time if it pans out we should be looking good! For now its rideable but not great. So, I’ll drop in as it changes! Seeya on the trails! Carol

First report in from the groomers – lots of snow, blowing snow and whiteouts overnight! Woot Woot! Trail coming into town on the pavement is thin because of the wind blowing it off, town trail by the campground is good, out in the woods it’s nuttin’ but good…

We are still flying the Red and Yellow flags due to ice under the snow.
