Cadillac Area Trail Report – 03/06

TRAIL CONDITIONS:

Forest trails (west of Cadillac): Very Good

Boon-North to Mesick: Good

In-town trail: Poor to Fair

White Pine Trail: Fair to Good

Warm afternoon temperatures have been taking a toll on the trail system the last couple of days. We haven’t received any additional snow recently either. There’s still some good riding in the forest but it would be a good idea to plan on starting from one of the following staging areas:

33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery

Our groomers are out there every day as long as temperature and snow conditions permit. Keep in mind the drags don’t work when temperatures get much above freezing. That’s also the time when trail conditions deteriorate quickly.

There isn’t much if any snow in the immediate forecast for us. It’s March though–anything can happen.

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/06

We are getting some snow flurries today just enough snow to whiten things up. Our temp will be in the 20’s today with warmer weather for the weekend. Grooming is still ongoing weather permitting. Take advantage of riding this week traffic is down and trails are still in good condition.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: Reports all trails are groomed. Over all conditions Good-some are very good, and as usual, you will run into some fair which mainly depends on traffic and weather. Please be careful on hills and corners which can be icy. Roadways and some parking lots are bare.

The Lake Gogebic groomers report: Grooming will continue weather permitting. Expect some bare spots around corners along with some ice. Trails are in good condition but again you will run in to some fair spots depending on the traffic. PLEASE REMEMBER TO PULL OVER IF YOU SEE A GROOMER. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY…
Just a reminder the Bergland Mobil gas station has closed, so plan your fueling accordingly.

The Watersmeet groomers report: All trails are groomed every night weather permitting. Trails are in good condition expect some bare spots near town but out of town trails are as smooth as can be.

Keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.

Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
