The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are officially open. The groomers are out working on the trails. Conditions are early season as more snow is needed.
Any trail usage should be done with extreme care until we have better snow cover as there are rocks, stumps, branches and wet areas not covered by snow and hazards that have not been identified.
The protective mat on the Portage Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock will not be installed until the middle of January. It is safe to cross the on the metal grating and will do no damage to your sled, just please drive carefully until the mat is installed.
Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails, they have the right of way!!
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

Conditions remain the same as previously posted. There is some talk of snow for Christmas. If conditions change, there will be an update posted.
The area has been pretty much free of snow for several days except for a few spots in the forest. This morning that all started to change bringing a light snow cover throughout the day. As of this evening we have picked up 2-3 inches which has left us snow-covered and looking like winter again.
If you haven’t already purchased your trail permit, be sure to put it on your Christmas list. Trail permit dollars help keep the groomers running and the trails brushed and signed.
PLEASE REMEMBER we have been asked by the State Park folks to stay off the White Pine Trail until there is at least four inches of snow on it…Let’s all respect this request. Thanks!

We’ve been working hard all summer brushing and signing the trails and doing equipment maintenance on our five tractors, drags and brushing equipment. Some of our buildings needed maintenance and sprucing up as well.
We’re excited about having a new Dubie drag on order. Should be here in time for some serious grooming this winter. We’ll be using it on the 7920 in the mid-region of our trail system.
Be sure to check out our website at cadillacwinterpromotions.org to learn more about our organization and trail system.
