January 1, 2017 — HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Our Trail Coordinator reporting in this morning said the trails are in GOOD to FAIR condition. The forest roads are GOOD with the narrower portions of the trail system not holding up as well. He also indicated there is an ice base so be careful.

Trail Conditions: Good

Call just in from our groomer on Trail 637 reporting the trails are Good…better in some areas than others. He reports there is a lot of snow in the woods. He was actually grooming today–not panning. That’s a good sign. Picked up 3-4 inches of new snow last night. He also indicated there are a lot of sleds in the woods so take your time and enjoy the ride. Be safe.

To better access the forest trails, you’ll want to use one of the Staging Areas below:

33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery

Note: The porta-a-johns were removed from our staging areas today as our contracts on them expired 3-15-13.

Just got word our groomers will begin grooming effective tomorrow. We’re getting snow now and more is forecasted this weekend. Our crews have been working hard to remove debris from the trail left by recent high winds. Be extra-careful as it is difficult to remove all the branches and logs in a timely manner when we have so many miles to cover.
