Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 12/23

We had a large crew out yesterday cleaning up as many downed trees and limbs as they could. The rest will have to wait for the groomers to hit the trails or for courteous sledders who want to lend a hand.

We always appreciate those sledders who take the time to stop and clear what brush they can helping the groomers out. The less time the the groomers have to spend getting out of the tractors clearing trail, the more time they have to spend grooming. Check out the “What’s Happening” page of our webpage to see some pictures of yesterday’s trail brushing operation. It will give you an idea of trail conditions.

BTW–the clean-up crew reported there is more snow north of Boon–about 8 to 10 inches.
Snow Accumulation: 5 inches

Trails are in great shape. Our crews worked hard on them throughout the summer. Lots of the old signs were removed and some new signs put up. REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 12/21

Update–4 p.m.: Just received word from our Trail Coordinator the groomers will stay off the trails for a few days and let the sleds pack the trails. Those riding yesterday reported the trails to be a huge “sponge”. The trails remain wet under the new snow we are receiving today. We are receiving reports of several downed tree limbs on the trails so be careful.

Also, don’t be tempted to ride on the lakes. As of this morning there was open water and what ice is there hasn’t been there long.

Morning update: There’s a lot of snowing and blowing going on right this morning. It’s truly awesome outside. The kind of weather you should be snowmobiling in and not driving your vehicle. It’s hard to say how much accumulation we have gotten as it is blowing around. The snow gauge is showing 5 inches. The rain we had late in the day yesterday settled much of the snow received throughout the day. Temps turned cooler overnight and the moisture returned to snow. Hopefully it will stay below freezing today and we will continue to receive snow throughout the day as forecasted.
