Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/03

It’s a busy weekend here in Cadillac with the North American Snow Festival bringing in lots of visitors to enjoy the snow and community. All groomers are running. The JD7920 that operates out of Hoxeyville broke down on us mid-week so we put our standby groomer the JD7400 in service.

There is lots of snow particularly in the woods and north of M55. But beware–you can expect ICE just about everywhere under the snow. The trails are rated Good because of the ice base. Without the ice base much of the trail system could be rated Excellent. As is often the case, the Cadillac West/Pole Rd route and White Pine Trail (south-east portion of the trail system) do not have as much snow cover but still plenty to ride.

Ride safely and have fun.

Snow accumulation: 7-10 inches

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/01

Update: Just got a trail conditions update…the White Pine is rideable but there is ICE everywhere. The trails are in good condition…not excellent because of the ice. You may find snow in short supply in open areas where the wind has swept it away. Otherwise go have fun but be very careful.

We have been grooming out of Boon the last couple of days but no grooming out of our other locations yet. Spoke to the guy who groomed out of Boon yesterday and he said there is a noticeable difference in snow north of 26 Rd toward Mesick. Sledders are reporting trails are fine north of M55. Still not reports on southern network of trails or White Pine where snow is lighter.

Snow accumulation: 6-10 inches

1/31/13 Update:
Winter is back. The rain has stopped and it’s been snowing throughout the night. So far we’ve picked up a couple of inches and they are calling for lake effect snow from now through most of the weekend.

We need these cold temperatures to freeze things up and a fresh coating of snow just in time for the weekend. We did not lose all our snow. It’s still very white around here. As soon as I have a trail report, I’ll pass it along. Today expect to find ice and slushy snow in a lot of places so be careful.

Snow accumulation: 5.5 – 8.5 inches

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’
