Frederic – Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/02

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 03/02

Maybe new snow coming. We had just a light dusting of new snow since yesterday but I am still sticking with the theory that conditions are poor. I have to say I was surprised at how many sleds were out and about on wednesday. Still alot of dirt on the trails and crossings but I did see alot of decent looking spots.

If you want to ride you have to just play dodge the dirt and dry spots. Weather says we may get a good amount of snow on friday. So all we can do is hope on that. I wish I had some more positive words to say. I didnt take any pics yesterday or today except for the delicous burger I had at the spot bar up in Johannesburg last night. It was burger nite and I went there on the recomondation from a lady that I had just talked to. I have rode my sled to there before but never at there. I give them an a plus…….Thats it for today. Think snow…..Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Frederic – Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/01

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 03/01

WOW again but in a totally different view. It is so hard to believe that we had such an incredible perfect condition snowfall on Monday afternoon and night. Sleds were out all over. Tuesday morning my brother and I decided to go for a ride leaving Frederic about 11 a.m.

Lots of sleds out enjoying the perfect conditions. We rode freshly groomed trails from the Kalkasa system out to Shirleys for lunch and then Cranberry Lake trail south of 72 finding lots of great snow. Then all of a sudden in just a couple hours dirt started showing thru trails and roads were clearing fast. We had a good 8 inches of new snow just hours before. So things went from fantastic to poor in no time.

Back to just watching and hoping for new snow to hit us. What a roller coaster of a winter. Pic below is my brother and I stopped at my house on the way back to Frederic, I didnt like skidding my sled down the pavement back to the trail. Thanks for checking in. Pete
