Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/23
Not a flake of new snow overnight. There was light sled traffic around Frederic and I had a few in here. One guy told me the best riding they had was north of Gaylord on 7 on up to the Thirsty Sturgeon in Wolverine. There were 3 sleds at the gas station when I got here this morning and a three guys from down by the Ohio line that had unloaded out back here. They said that was there first time in this area. I would say my rating on what we have out there is maybe a hair above poor to fair. There is no grooming yet but 2 riders told me they saw a groomer panning on 76. I forgot to put a shout out yesterday from Jerry in Metamora to Cathy who was at home reading my updates. Weather is still calling for snow each day thru next Thursday, now they just need to come thru with it. Grayling Motels were pretty empty, 3 trailers at Ramada and zero at days in this morn. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Snow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Gusts to around 30 mph will be common. Accumulations remain consistent to this mornings forecast with 3-6” for most of the area and localized 7”+ possible where heaviest snow falls this evening and tonight. No new snow and its icy and mostly dry but my lake is emerging in the back parking lot. My nieghbors were just here and they are going to try to ride to the bridge. I told them to send me a picture, we will see how that works out. There is a prediction of 1 to 4 inches for today but I do not think that will help much. I have a piece of property that I keep plowed out and that was all down to dirt this morning. The wait is on again... #gaylord

We lost alot of snow overight and it is now icy and slippery. Strong winds and rain most of the night didnt do us any favors. I was outside about 5 this morning and it was very warm out there. Currently at about 11 friday morning its 33 degrees and slight snow in the air. I have had several calls on people wondering what its like out. There is still alot of snow in the woods but with all the rain I think you will go right thru the slush to the bottom. On the other hand weather said we could get up to 4 inches tonight. Its amazing how great conditions can be and how fast it can dissapear ……Pics below are all this morning. If you stop by to see me just wake me up cause I think this is going to be a boring day...
