Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 04/09

It’s over……(maybe) you just never know if its really over.. Still white out there but very thin towards grayling and not to many people were around on sunday. I only stayed till about 2:30 on Saturday and headed off to TC and was surprised to see the west parking lot out by Bear Lake with 15 to 20 trailers at it and the pics below I took at the Swamp and Tinkers Junction as I was leaving town. So there were quite a few people out there that did manage to get some riding in. Temps are supposed to get warmer this week so barring another storm it might really be over.

My daughter and I decided to make a quick overnight trip to Chicago so that’s why I left early Saturday. I didn’t feel I was missing to much business and when we got back yesterday morning I came straight to Frederic from the airport and it was like a ghost town around here and I did check the west parking lot again out by Bear Lake and there were only 2 trailers there.

So once again I guess I am going to my summer schedule but will try to update every couple of weeks. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 04/07

No new snow overnight, 25 degrees out right now, there were 3 trucks and trailers and sleds out back this morning which were just getting ready to head out. Their pic is the first one below here. I went out for a 2 hour 20 mile ride yesterday afternoon and found a lot of untouched snow that was still nice and deep and I would say was an excellent ride. Just had a guy from Indy call and ask if I thought it was worth them making the trip up. I told him I didn’t think it would be worth it. If you aren’t here or close already its almost over (again). So many people have called and asked that but weren’t sure if they should. Just had a group in here that rode in from waters and are heading off towards Starvation Lake. I would guess there were about 10 to 15 sleds that stopped in here yesterday and I would guess it will be light again today but for all those I have talked to they are happy riders. One regular was in here with his wife this morning and they rode 200 miles yesterday on up to Petoskey and back. They are die hards and are at 8500 miles for this season…(yes that’s right). Pics below are from yesterday and one of my sled up on top of Mt Frederic…….Thanks for checking in. Pete
