Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/28

The Polar Vortex is our Friend. I had a shirt here in Sledheads a few years ago and its about time to break it out again. Its about ten on Monday morning and not much new snow overnight but they are still saying ten to 15 inches yet today and its been coming down the past hour or so. I heard a sled out there but the snow is coming down so hard riding will be tough at this time.

There were 2 trailers each at both days inn and Ramada this morning so most everyone went home. You can always tell when I 75 is closed and it happened twice yesterday as that’s the only time there is a traffic jam in Frederic. Trucks, cars and trailers backed up as far as you can see. I am going to be busy plowing most of the day.

I have a voice mail from the mountain man from a week or so ago when he called me at 4 a.m. and said he was doing the snow dance, really quite entertaining, I am going to put it into a short video this week for your enjoyment just to show you the snow dance really works.

Pic of the shop below I just took outside a minute ago. Other pics are my brother and he stopped by yesterday and of the rig Devon was in as they cruised by yesterday afternoon. Quite the sled hauler. Thanks for checking in and I need to get to moving some snow. Gonna plow out my park n ride out back and remember you can park back there and parking is by donation just to help for plowing and taxes…….Please Ride Safely and ride right. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/27

Waiting for the BIG DON of storms to hit us. Starting tonight prediction is 6 to 12 inches of system snow. I hope they are right. Its a beautiful morning out this morning. I was up at 7 and out my door at 7:15 and on my sled. 3 degrees and a fresh inch or two overnight, I rode into Grayling and went to check the motels. 11 trailers at the Days Inn and 46 at the Ramada, talked to a group of Canadians that were loading up and had their sleds running outside their rooms.

Pic is below of their sleds. STopped at 7 11 and rode the trail back to Frederic, beautiful morning for a ride and I got here right at 9 but not before I buried my sled in the snow bank in the alley behind the shop. Now when I get a group of four guys in I will go pull it out. Already been a few sleds in and its snowing out right now at 10 a.m. I would love to throw the closed sign up and go and ride all day…….BUT I just cant bring myself to do that. Also it was a hot ride for a couple of sleds yesterday and a 73 year old rider had an incident where he wrecked his skidoo but luckily he didn’t get hurt except for his pride. Both the Swamp & Frederic Inn were jammed with sleds all day long. Pics are below.

Story I posted yesterday from the lady that came across the guy on the highway got a response that the guy was found and was o.k. Also a report of a found I phone on the trail near Frederic which is coming into me here this morning. It has heavy damage from studs but I will have it. Also if you are missing some items in a pouch and a tow rope and other goodies from up near the settings I have that stuff here. From what they described a bag on a sled must have come open and scattered someones stuff along the trail. Petes lost and found here. Thanks for checking in. Pete
