Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/31

It sure don’t get any better than this. Sunny and super cold with beautiful trails. Temps are supposed to get warmer which should make it perfect for Saturday too. Sunday on the other hand they are saying 40s but everyone leaves early for the super bowl anyways.

I bet we had another 6 inches here in Frederic overnight, we are still on the line for the winter storm warning till tonight. Not sure if the 6 inches was new snow or blowing and drifting but I had to plow the whole lot again.

Pics below are all from yesterday and around Frederic. Just caught the Wertz Warriors semis passing by out front. Havent seen the riders but its always cool to see the rigs. They do an incredible job of raising money for the special Olympics. Please Ride Safely and thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/30

I LIKE IT, I LIKE IT ALOT! 11 a.m. on Wednesday and snowing and blowing and almost white out conditions at about 4 degrees out there. Just had a guy in to get a new helmet with an electric shield and he is heading out to ride.

Trailer counts this morning at the Days Inn and the Ramada were 1 at each place.

I took a great ride yesterday from here to the bridge. Left about noon and got back a little after 7. For the first time I went up thru Alanson, stopped at Spankys to check that place out. Nice store and he is more on the trail then I am. On up to the bridge where you could only see a little bit of it cause it was snowing so hard. Ran into a group of sleds at the shore taking pictures and it was Gary Brown and his crew of Flying Tigers from Canton Ohio. From there I went to the Key Hole for a quick burger and then hit the trail for back to Frederic. It was 85 miles to Mackinaw going up thru Alanson and 84 miles back going thru Cheboygan.

All in all a beautiful 169 mile ride. I would guess total I was only stopped for about 1 hour between the 3 stops that I made so that was a full 7 hour ride. Just north of Vanderbilt I came up on a groomer heading north and for the next 5 miles I was first one on the trail and like my friend Richy used to like to say it was just like a table. Actually trails the whole day were perfect but its always nice to ride a nice flat table. I bet I only passed 20 sleds all day.

I still think they are making to big a deal about the supposed cold out there as I wasn’t cold at all yesterday even though the winds were a bit stiff towards the end. I wish I could do that everyday. Had another group of Canadians in yesterday morning too……Thanks for checking in. Please Ride Safe and Ride right… Pete
