Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/17

It’s a sunny sunday morning at 27 degrees, its now 11:30 and I have only seen one sled. Yesterday was pretty slow too but when I went by the parking lot on 72 earlier yesterday afternoon there were 8 trailers there.

My brother rode 170 miles up out of st ignace yesterday and he said it was just like real winter there and the trails were great, they rode over to Naubinway and went to the snowmobile museum. There was a point yesterday morning you will see from the pics below that it was snowing and blowing just like we would love to see all the time here but that only lasted a little while.

I dont know what has happened to Dave Klemish who usually checks in with me or calls and makes me jealous cause he gets to ride so much. After all his trips up here riding maybe he ran out of funds……

I am thinking about a u.p. run here in the next couple days, I just checked Grand Marais site and that is looking good but after my brothers report too I think it wouldnt hurt to just start out in St Ignace……Thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/16

There is snow in the air in Frederic this saturday morning. We have had a slight dusting of lake effect since yesterday maybe a half inch to make it look nice and white out there. There were only 3 sleds that rode into Sledheads yesterday and i saw two over at the swamp and that was it. People that did stop in were in cars and heading north. Even my brother is in St Ignace this morning and going to ride to Naubinway this morning. Took a pic of 2 sleds that were heading towards starvation lake this morning. I see a guy wrote on the video I posted earlier this morning that he rode by lakes of the north last night and said it wasnt as bad as he thought it would be. It will be interesting to see how many do come into Frederic today. Last customer of the night last night was also my oldest customer, Jim Stahl who is about 84 years young. He came in for his Polar Vortex shirt. Always good to see him and he is always proud to hold the oldest customer title. I will be here all day today and also open tommorow to catch the people stopping in on their way back from the u.p. Im not ready to give up on winter yet but the forcast this week starting wednesday is for 40s, just remember the best riding of the whole season last year was in April. I rode 500 miles and 5 different times in April, I also see that the hit counter is coming up on Five Million Five Hundred Thousand hits, tell your friends to check in on my page at the first person that sends me a pic of the counter at 5,500,000 gets a Polar Vortex t shirt, …..Thanks for checking in. Pete
