Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/22

Calm and quiet in Frederic this morning at 32 degrees. Several riders in already this morning and as everyone has said all week trails are still in fantastic shape, however it doesn’t take a long time for them to go the other way once a lot of traffic gets on them and especially at 32 degrees. Its now 10 a.m. and trailer counts this morning in town were 1 at the Days Inn and 9 at the Ramada. Thankfully we still have a lot of snow. My gut feeling is that riders will be rolling thru here this weekend and just have to take whatever happens on the trails. Its been a long time since so many trails are so nice. That’s the best I can tell you on that.

One more time on the reminder for the Polar Vortex Shirts,  We are taking orders till Monday . Click here to Order Polar Vortex Mega Storm 2019 shirts      Thanks for checking in and Please ride Safely and STAY RIGHT,,,,,,Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/21

It’s 28 degrees and very windy with no new snow. We had about an inch of fine new snow yesterday, cant say I am thrilled with the weather forcast for this coming weekend as it says some light rain in it but we still have tons of snow. No way to tell which way it will go. Still all trails remain incredible.

I did end up at Bois Blanc Island yesterday, Put my sled in the trailer and unloaded in Cheboygan and headed over to the island on the 5 mile tree line which was nice and clear sailing over to there. Lots of snow but being by myself and not wanting to get in trouble I only rode on tracks that were already there. There are only 72 people that live on the island in the winter and that is no place to need help at especially with limited cell service. As the afternoon went on the winds picked up heavy duty along with the white out conditions and by the time I headed back I was a bit leary of heading back across. Thank goodness the had a tree line but it was so white out I had to go to each tree and look hard for the next one as there was no way I was going to lose site of the last tree before I could see the next one. When I was out there you have no idea where shore is and which way to go if you cant see the next guide tree and I would have turned around and went back if that didn’t happen. I certainly was happy to finally see shore on the mitten side of lake huron. Made it back home about 10 after a slow drive back as it was snowing and blowing on the highway too. All in all a great day and got to see a few friends on the island too. That was the first time I have been there in 3 year. Below are pics I took on my ride. Thanks for checking in. Pete
