Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/15

Waiting for new snow. Looks like Frederic is on the line for tonights snow. We are at the 3 to 6 inch line which is also right where the 1 to 3 inch line is……you know what that means. All in well things look pretty good.

Sleds were light but out and about yesterday and the drizzly mist that we had didnt hurt anything. I still think its going to be the first real full weekend of riders coming north.

Today pics are from a fire that happened a couple days ago. Yesterday morning a friend called me and asked me if I knew anything about a burnt up sled but I hadnt heard anything then a while later I had a text from the mother of the girl that was riding the sled with her friend. This is another be careful of the water out there stories. A few days ago there was so much water where this happened at it looked like a flowing river. The girls rode thru what looked like a small part of it that was left and tipped over and then the sled caught on fire….Luckily they were both o.k.

The other pic I got last night from Maria who is spending the week out in Jackson Hole Wyoming where they have real snow. She was in here last week with her boyfriend and they were excited to be heading out there. She is showing off her new Sledheads shirt in real snow…….I need to get out there one of these days. Thanks for checking in and keep up the snow chants. We need it. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/14

It’s cloudy and misty at 33 degrees. Not a flake of new snow overnight or this morning. Sleds were out and about on monday but hardly anyone stopped by here. Forcast for the week says we will be getting a little snow and I have to think that people are in the tired of waiting mode and it will be a busy weekend all around northern michigan as long as there is no meltdown by Friday….someone clipped a guide wire with a sled at the north end of Frederic yesterday at hulbert road and they had the road blocked for quite a while as they were waiting for whoever had to repair that. So once again I say be darn careful out there.

O.k. so much for my sales pitch of the day, have the first riders in of the day now and they are up here from Virginia. I wonder when the Alabama boys are going to show up this year?? I wonder if Alabama Big John is reading this. Michigan Big John was in here yesterday showing off his catch of Walleye he got on Lake Margrethe. PIc is below…..Thanks for checking in. Pete
