Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/02

New Snow fell last night, about a whole 2 inches,The snow that did fall last night fell hard and fast and was a nice thick snow so that was a bonus. Sled traffic new years day was steady thru Frederic and trails are still well worn.

I think I had more cars and trucks drive into the shop here yesterday than sleds. Trailer counts in Grayling this morning were the highest so far this year with 21 at the Ramada and 7 at the Days Inn. So the season is off to a typical slow start. I got here just before 9 this morning and there were already a couple people waiting on me.

I heard Jerry on the radio station 100.3 is now doing Mo Mo Nah Chee Chee Nah with his weather reports. Hopefully that will help. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/30

Finally a little shot of winter, with about six new fresh inches overnight. Yesterday was the busiest day I have seen so far this season even with what I still called poor conditions…this shot today will help alot.

Hopefully we can add to it some thru the weekend. I have been plowing all morning and pretty much have that part all done. Still not many new comers to the motels as Days Inn had zero trailers this morning and Ramada had 3..

I did see a picture online yesterday of a sled in about 3 feet of water on a trail somewhere outside of paradise. That didnt look like fun. I am still having issues trying to get pics into here….I dont like that….pic below is sleds at the Ramada this morning.

Thanks for checking in. Pete..
