Wind is picking up here in Frederic with a stiff south breeze but it feels nice and cold., Still not a speck of new snow. I figured yesterdays post would get people riled up and it did with all the comments and after you read this it will really blister your feathers. I had a pretty lengthy conversation this morning with Karen from the former Michigan Snowmobile Association and now known as MISORVA (Michigan Snowmobile and ORV Association). She said things changed back in 2016 with the passing of public act 288. Here is a link to it. Public Act 288 of 2016
I still haven’t read all of it yet but will yet this afternoon. Doesn’t seem like a very good deal for sledders to me. I will leave it at that for right now.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip will gradually taper through the evening. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?

Did you know a 30ft diameter tree can weight up to 7,000 extra lbs with that amount of ice on it? Crazy.
