Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 12/23
December 23th, 2016
The warmer temps we’ve had over the past few days have not helped our efforts to get the trails in good condition. It won’t be cooling back off to more normal temps until Tuesday, as of the latest weather report. Groomers have been over all trails recently but only during the night hours or early morning hours. There are a lot of sticks and some rocks sticking up through the snow so caution must be used. Until we get additional snowfall and colder temps there isn’t much that can be done. Trails remain for the most part in poor condition with fair spots. Be aware of wet spots on most trails at this time.
The forecast is calling for 2 – 4” today with a winter storm predicted for Sunday afternoon into Monday. Keep your fingers crossed.
Gogebic Area Grooming really needs your support at this time more than ever. You can be a part of our grooming efforts with a sponsorship of $25 for single, $30 for family and $75 for businesses. However we’d greatly appreciate a donation of any amount. These can be sent to “Gogebic Area Grooming” at “115 Hoop ‘N Holler Rd / Merriweather, MI 49947” or you can find sponsorship pads at most businesses around the lake with our map boxes, where you can also deposit donations. All map money is intended to benefit the grooming efforts in our area. If you mail your sponsorship or donation to the above address be sure to include contact info, as well.
If you’re planning on being up here over Christmas day be aware that most restaurants in the area will be closed for that day as well as early closing on Christmas Eve. However, Konteka in White Pine will be open for Christmas with a limited menu.
