Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/11

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 02/11

2/11/25
I crawled outa bed this morning at 0630 and flipped on my outside deck lights and said “holy wah” its gonna be a busy day! It was 5 degrees and I had a solid 7″ of fresh snow on my deck!!! It is now 0830 with a bright sunny sky and 7 degrees.

I am not on the schedule to groom today but I wish I was, its gonna be a blast for the guys that are on!! I`ll spend the day digging out…not so much fun.

All trails will be run today but I don`t even have to wait to hear from the guys cause I know all trails will be EXCELLENT and I don`t use that word very often! Thats all I have to say about the trails so here are a few tips for you when you come upon a groomer on the trails. I mention these cause it sure helps us on a long day on the trails and its safer for everyone. Plus. it seems to be a problem every year.

Tip #1…..When you see a groomer coming at you start looking for a good spot to get off the trail and get outa our way so we don`t have to stop or try and squeeze by….this happens WAY to often and it makes for a much longer day for us. Remember we CAN NOT get off the trail and we DO have the right of way.

Tip #2…..When you approach a groomer from behind, follow us SLOWLY from 50′ back. Please stay off the brap lever so you don`t tear up the fresh groom. We will let you by as soon as possible. DO NOT just try and fly by us!!!!!

Tip #3……We would rather see hand signals for how many ppl. are behind you in your group or for the last person rather than a thumbs up or even a wave.

This concludes the days lesson on “How to get around a groomer on the trail”. Please try and follow these tips. Its MUCH safer for everyone involved. THANK YOU!!!!!! HAVE A SAFE RIDE!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

MACKINAC COUNTY UPDATE via Mackinac County Snowmobile Association >> Monday March 16th
Trail update
Firsts thoughts are what the heck do we do??? Well at the moment we unhooked drag and running the John Deere track tractor just to try and break through. We received somewhere around 3ft so far where it hasn't blowed. There is 6 ft plus drifting in spots. The drifts are gonna get hard to. As much as I would like to say it's awesome out here it just isn't and will take several days to get somewhat of a trail. We are just getting started so there could be more surprises but we are trying!! For the next several days if you are coming up our trails are drifting and there is so much snow that it will take several trips to get smoothed out. We will update when things change. GRAND MARAIS AREA UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. >> Trail update" WE HAVE SNOW!!! Unfortunately we are holding off grooming until the weather dies down and then long enough to get dug out!! I do not know how many inches of snowfall we have had with this current storm, but drifts are from 5 to 10 feet around my house and driveway!
I hope everyone is staying safe and indoors. It took about 35 minutes to dig out far enough for our dog to go out... and right back in!!! I put a shovel in the snow on top of where our generator is...in case power goes out and it don't start I will be able to find it. Stay safe, ride right, and for now, bench race!!!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Tahquamenon General Store >> 2nd time digging out drifted paths from house to store. Hard to predict the total so far , but I'd say 20" and blizzard warnings for another 18 hours. Definitely closed until further notice. If your needing to be out, but shouldn't be Paradise Rec Sports did post they were Open until 6 pm. Glad someone can accommodate for emergency sake. Wheelhouse Diner is also Open. I'd advice to stay off road so county plow trucks can do their job without risk of someone stuck on highway, which report big truck near Rivermouth stuck on M123 in snow drift. Be safe, be smart. #newberry #snowphotos2nd time digging out drifted paths from house to store. Hard to predict the total so far , but I'd say 20" and blizzard warnings for another 18 hours. Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/10

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 02/10

2/10/25
12 degrees this morning and sunny. I picked up about an inch of snow here at my place last night. We sure didn`t get the snow the weather guessers were talking about but the temps remain in the teens…so…..all good. "They" are talking some LE for the next couple days so we`ll see how that pans out.

Nothing really to report about the trails. All operators are saying the trails are BEAUTIFUL!!!! All feed back I`m seeing on our FB page is saying the same. It doesn`t get any better than this folks!!!! If you ain`t U.P. here or don`t have plans to be U.P. here you are missing out!!!! Its worth the couple hour extra drive to get here!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
