Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/19

January 19, 2019

It is one degree below zero this morning. Just a dusting of snow last night and right now there is a light snow in the air. Its so cold I think the moisture in the air is just freezing!

All trails were run yesterday and all drivers reported the same. They all rated them as good but there are a few thin spots on every trail. All trails will be run again today. It is pretty crowded UP here which brings me to my next subject.

PLEASE people…..slow down a touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are alot of sledders on the trails. I HATE reporting things like accidents but we had one on the Falls trail where a guy hit a big bump in the trail and got flung off into a tree and broke his leg…..just plain going too fast. Remember, we don`t have our usual amount of snow and the trails aren`t perfect. The ground is still freezing and it will heave simular to what the roads do. There also was a death out toward Newberry where two sledders hit head on and I heard there was a death towards Grand Marais with a sled vs. car and the sled lost. PLEASE people….SLOW DOWN and pay attention to your surroundings!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the sad news, but people have GOT to start using common sense.

All for today.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! We sure could use a foot.

Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/18

January 18, 2019

17 degrees this morning and snowing on and off……typical lake effect stuff. Looks like I picked up about 2 inches from last night on my deck. Here`s a full report on the happenings from yesterday as promised…….

I ran the south trail #8. It turned out pretty good but the snow is a bit thin in a couple spots. There still is one small open water hole in the swamp just south of town. Its only 6 inches deep by 2-3 foot wide. You can get through it easily without getting wet or muddy if you just putt thru. With the fresh snow from last night we should be able to freeze that in today.

Groomer Mike ran the Stump trail #8. He called it good to fair. The fair section being Siberia. Its still a bit thin out there but is better than a day ago.

Groomer Don ran the Point trails #452 and #453. He called it good to fair also with a couple thin spots but getting better.

Groomer Kevin ran the Falls trail #45. He said it was pretty beat up when he started but got `er decent. He rated it at just fair for now. It will probably get to good by the end of todays run.

We are running all trails again today and tomorrow. I`ll bet we can rate them all good by the end of today. Keep checking back and I`ll keep you informed.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
