Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/16

It started spitting rain on and off yesterday noon and has been doing it ever since.

Temps are 40 right now and the yards are almost back to green grass. All that nice snow 55+ inches in November is mostly gone. Some is still packed on trails but we are almost back to square one as far as grooming and stuff freezing. This rain has got some streams and ditches flowing again too. The temps are supposed to drop later today and finally get some more snow 1-4 inches.

The temps are to stay below freezing but there is no snow in the near forecast other then the little bit tonight. Lets hope the weatherman is WRONG for snow!!!

Dec 16-Rain and warm temps the last 5 days have our 50+ inches of snow in November just about gone. Temps are to drop tonight and maybe 1-4 inches of snow but that is all that is called for in the near future. So it don’t look good for grooming.

Trails are open and you can now ride your sleds legally. We no longer have good snow in most areas.

We need cold weather now to freeze them up.

Soo to Kinross is not frozen yet as well as Kinross to Raco. If you go for a ride I would recommend avoiding those areas that are always wet until we have cold weather because you will get soaking wet. There is no use us wasting fuel and breaking equipment until colder temps are called for.

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/11

Trails are in poor condition for the most part. Some sections have not have a groomer on them do to water issues.

Most of them are solid enough for the sled but not all and if we take the groomer over them we will break any ice that has formed. With the warm temps called for in the next few days grooming will be almost nil.

Trail #8 going west from the Soo is not too bad but remember early season riding at best.

Trails are poor with some non even seen the groomer yet do to water. Trail #8 going west from the Soo is in fair condition and we have groomed around Kinross which is not to bad of shape, but we need cold and snow to do any grooming.

Trails are open and you can now ride your sleds legally. We have some good snow in most areas but we have many wet spots that will be a challenge to say the least. Temps are to stay warm with no snow in the forecast fro the next few days.

In city trail was groomed also and there was lots of wet areas but a lot of snow also.

You may be able to get your sled over some of the wet spots now but if we take the groomer thru it with no cold temps your sled will be like a submarine.
