The trails continue to be in good condition! It’s currently snowing, and Gaylord is in for the same snowstorm hitting the rest of the state. If you’re heading this way, travel safe and get ready to enjoy the fresh snow!

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

You can’t get better than this. Another 6 inches or so of snow yesterday and trails like this you do not get to see very often. I ended up riding up to the bridge yesterday with the friend of the infamous Ohio Pooper who years ago was caught on my camera doing you know what which gave him his nick name. Brian and Mike and I headed up to the bridge and up thru Indian River, Mullett Lake and Cheboygan to Mackinaw City. Only a few ripples in the trail and 99.9 percent of the time super smooth riding. After a quick stop in Mackinaw down the other side of the trail to Carp Lake, Brutus, Pellston and Alanson to Indian River and back down to Frederic for a burger at the Swamp. All in all a perfect 170 mile ride. It just doesn’t happen like that very often. Pretty quiet here in Frederic this morning and i got everything plowed again. Still supposed to be some more snow. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip will gradually taper through the evening. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Additional icing across the area appears less likely today with only a glaze of ice possible for some areas. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?
WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> From Billy Miller in Gaylord. Absolutely wild how trees bend to the ground under the immense weight of the ice.
Did you know a 30ft diameter tree can weight up to 7,000 extra lbs with that amount of ice on it? Crazy.
