Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/03

February 1, 2024 – 10:40 a.m.
Trails are in very poor shape, with bare or wet patches due to the warm temperatures over the past few weeks. There are unrideable sections without any snow. We’ll keep you posted on how the weather is affecting the trails. Check back for updates and trail conditions.
Please remember that groomers have the right of way and kindly move off the trail so they can safely proceed. If you approach a groomer from behind, the operator will signal when it’s safe for you to pass. Groomers are here to make your ride more enjoyable so please be courteous!

A lot of frost on the trees and roofs this morning but not a flake of snow. All dirt as before. So I guess I am gonna head to the Soo and see how the running of the I 500 is going. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Lake effect snow continues tonight through Wednesday with additional accumulations of 4-8" across the snow belts. Locally higher amounts will be possible. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Snow showers will gradually weaken later this morning before picking up again this afternoon and continuing through Wednesday. An additional 4-8” is expected across parts of northwest lower and eastern upper by Wednesday evening with localized higher amounts possible. -Winter Storm Warnings for counties shaded in pink and Winter Weather Advisories for counties in blueish/purple until 7pm Wednesday.
-Some areas could see 9-12"+ in Antrim, Otsego, Crawford & Kalkaska Counties. Same for areas of Luce & Chippewa Counties. Winds could be gusting upwards of 40mph blowing and drifting the fresh snow.
