Here we go again for another fresh start. About 4 to 5 fresh inches of fluffy lake effect snow here in Frederic today Jan 2. Its 1:30 p.m. and I didnt get here till about noon. We had only about 2 inches in Grayling and I have seen 6 sleds this morning. Rich and Lisa rode in from Lakes of the North and they said they have more snow there. Their pic is below with 2 other pics I took outside here this morning. I still call this very marginal riding snow as you just go right thru to the dirt on the first pass but we have to start over so we can build from here. My gut feeling is that there will be a fair amount of riders around friday and saturday as there is supposed to be more snow coming but we really need a nice thick system snow to get it packing. So let get this winter going. Thanks for checking in. Pete

We had an epic start to snowmobile season – the Gaylord area got hit with over 90 inches of snow to start out winter!
Due to the warmer temps, trails are in poor condition and grooming has stopped. Don’t worry, there’s more snow in the forecast! Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.

Happy New Years Eve day. I wish I could tell you we got dumped with snow but the only thing that has increased is the bare ground this week. The 2 pics below I took at Sledheads when I went up there yesterday just to see what it looked like. The lot is pretty bare and I even have a big pond in my back parking lot. The Frederic Inn is having prime rib tonight so I might just have to try that. I would actually rather ride than eat. Wishing eveyone a Happy and Safe New Year and thanks for checking in. Pete
