Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/18

Greetings Sledders,

Just a quick update. We got around 4" of Lake Effect last night here in town with totals closer to 6" just to the west and the snow totals fizzled as you go to the east.

We are panning everything except the Lovells trail due to the aforementioned fizzling.

You can get an early season ride that I would have to call poor to fair but by the looks of the weather forecast you may want to do it soon as we are looking at a warm up this weekend and on into next week. It’s anybody’s guess how long things will hold up.

Unfortunately that same forecast doesn’t show any new snow in our immediate future.

Next report in about a week.

We would like to wish all of you a Safe and Happy Holiday Season

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy, The Girl and Boys

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/05

Greetings Sledders,

I know I’m late getting this off the ground this year and all I can do is beg for forgiveness, well maybe not beg, it’s more like an ask. I’m hoping that as time passes my tardiness will be forgotten.
For those of you that are new to this, it is actually a trail report and I am getting around to the trail part.

My name is Keith and the lady standing behind me making sure that my grammar and punctuation are correct is Sandy. After all we want this thing done good.

Together we own Fay’s Motel located a mile and a half north of Grayling. We have an acre of parking out back for your tow vehicle and trailer. Park it and leave it, you can ride right from the motel and park your sled by your motel room door when you get back.

This is the year of the 20. Twenty years of owning the motel, 20 years of producing this report and this is the 20th year that I’ve been in the groomer. After 19 full seasons of grooming I have finally passed my probationary period and I’ve become fully vested in the elusive groomer’s pension. Retirement is just around the next corner.

Alright on to the trail conditions.

We got around 6" of heavy wet snow last Sunday. Not enough to start the base building process which is the bad news part. The good news part is that the ground is frozen and the snow is adhering right nicely, and the trails are snow covered. However, that doesn’t mean that you should run out and hook up the trailer just yet, unless of course you don’t mind banging off the rocks here and there or cutting through to the sand there and here.

That said or in this case written, we suggest you hold off until we get another shot of snow and we get the chance to start building a base.

Not sure when that will be because there’s not much in the forecast. But we are off to a good start nonetheless.

Next report when we start panning.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,

Keith, Sandy and The Girls and Boys
