The snow is here and trails are officially open for the season! Last weekend’s winter storm dropped a heaping helping of the white stuff on us. The trails near Lakes of the North are in good shape, trails near Johannesburg are in fair shape, and the south loop is in poor shape. Please note, due to the ice storm, there is a logging operation near Turtle Lake Road and Douglas Lake Road – the logging trucks are using the trail as a road. The trails are passable, but they’re in poor shape with dirt showing. Proceed with caution in these areas.
Wondering what the trails look like? Check out the live view of trail #7 here.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

It almost seems a little slickery under neath and it is 27 degrees out right now. A few riders have been in so far and are heading out. No new snow in the past couple days. The pic below is a group of guys that just left. The guy on the right is a proud new owner of a retro helmet that I had up on the shelf. Thanks for checking in. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Friday riders were out but certainly no big crowds, light sled traffic. I see 6 sleds over at the swamp right now and am sure they are there for the breakfast buffet. My gut feeling is its gonna be a slow saturday but conditions are still better than we have seen in years. Had dinner at the Frederic Inn last night and 3 of us had the prime rib and it was great as usual. Left overs for lunch today. Pics below are all from yesterday and last night. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
