Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/13

The trails have seen some nice snow this week! The south loop is in mostly good condition up until the end where it starts thinning. Trail #7 is in good shape but thins near Perry Road. Lakes of the North area remains in good shape. We’re expecting more lake effect snow overnight to start the weeked off right!
Please note, due to the ice storm, there is a logging operation near Turtle Lake Road and Douglas Lake Road – the logging trucks are using the trail as a road. The trails are passable, but they’re in poor shape. Proceed with caution in these areas.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Friday riders were out but certainly no big crowds, light sled traffic. I see 6 sleds over at the swamp right now and am sure they are there for the breakfast buffet. My gut feeling is its gonna be a slow saturday but conditions are still better than we have seen in years. Had dinner at the Frederic Inn last night and 3 of us had the prime rib and it was great as usual. Left overs for lunch today. Pics below are all from yesterday and last night. I see 6 sleds over at the swamp right now and am sure they are there for the breakfast buffet. My gut feeling is its gonna be a slow saturday but conditions are still better than we have seen in years. We are in pretty good shape considering it’s mid-December.
