Gaylord Area Trail Report – VisitGaylord.com – 12/09

We have approx. 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. A very light fluffy snow. It is really pretty this morning all covered in white. We will need more to give enough snow to make the trails in riding condition. Snow is in the forecast everyday.

Sledheads of Frederic – 12/08

STILL waiting for the snow but the weather man says its getting closer. Its 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning, winds are still blowing and there is just a skiff of new snow and that’s not enough to count for much at about 23 degrees out here at Lake Margrethe this morning. They claim more lake effect is coming today so lets see what happens. The cold and winds from yesterday should help stiffen up the ground. I know we have to start some where but I am still not to hyped up yet. I did have 3 of my four sleds fired up yesterday just in case. I still haven’t sold even one trail permit yet.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 12/09

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Friday, December 9, 2016.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are officially open but trails are in early season condition. The groomers will be going out to start opening trails and clearing any hazards.

Any trail usage should be done with extreme caution as there is very low snow cover in most areas and a lot of water. There are rocks, stumps, branches, and other hazards that have not been identified.

Please remember to watch out for the groomers when your’re out on the trails. They have the right away.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Snowfall & Weather Report

Snowfall in the Keweenaw Peninsula – 13.5 inches of snow on the ground, 35 inches fallen to date as of 12/8/16.
