6 degrees this morning and cloudy. Picked up another 2 inches in the last 24 hrs. Supposed to get another 3-6 for this weekend. Here`s our plan for the weekend……..
Running to the Falls today with 2 groomers and no drags. The reason for no drags is we don`t know what the water holes are like. We may need to fill them in and its impossible to manuever with drags in tow.
Tomorrow we are going to run trail #8 to Pine Stump. We will take 2 machines with one bringing a drag….no big water holes on this trail.
Sunday we are running the Point trail, probably with just one machine and a drag….not quite sure yet.
Monday we are going south thru our infamous swamp. We will use 2 machines without drags for obvious reasons.
Soooo….there you have it in a nut shell. Our plan is etched in snow!!! I`ll let you know how things go as we progress. Keep checking back every morning. LET ER SNOW!!!!!!! Groomer Chris

ey all! Happy Hump Day! We got snow and BEST news yet is that the Groomers have been out ‘early grooming’, trying to start building a base for us! They are doing what they can to pack and fill and pan to help get rid of ruts and dips and holes! Conditions are thin though and they won’t be out till we get MORE snow, SO keep up the dance and the prayers! Forecast is for a few more inches in the next few days so let’s hope we GET it! AND I want to pass along a notice from the DNR I got today – ‘The new, highly anticipated Snowmobile Trail No. 37 in Wexford and Manistee counties has opened for the 2016-17 snowmobile season. The 16.5-mile snowmobile trail, which runs from Yuma to Copemish, connects the trail systems near Cadillac to trails north in Benzie, Manistee and Leelanau counties. This new connector trail will enhance snowmobiling opportunities in northwest Michigan, as well as increase tourism in towns such as Mesick and Copemish. While the trail will be open throughout the 2016-17 season, a trail detour will reroute snowmobilers around the Manistee River trestle bridge near Mesick. The trail took many years to develop, as portions of the grade were under ownership of the MDOT for transportation purposes. Through a cooperative agreement with MDOT, management responsibilities were transferred to allow for recreational use within the corridor. In addition to MDOT’s support, the project had strong support from the Cadillac Winter Promotions and Benzie-Manistee Snowbirds snowmobile clubs. The clubs collaborated to make the trail connections and contributed many long hours brushing the trail. The DNR, the Benzie-Manistee Snowbirds and the state snowmobile program contributed funds to the project. The DNR is working to obtain grant funding to hire a bridge engineer consultant to assess and complete improvements to the trestle bridge.’ So – anyway, keep up the goo vibes that we get more snow! AND THANKS for the email Lloyd W and Rick W – it was awesome to hear from you! Anyone else out there chomping at the bit to get out and ride? Drop me a line! Seeya on the trails, Carol
Weekend trail report. Trails are thin. People are riding but I would not suggest it. We’re still building a base and filling holes. We’re expecting snow which we need badly.
Please!! We’re going to keep you updated so please do not ask constantly how the trails are. When there good we will let you know.
