Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/09

January 9, 2017

14 degrees this morning and cloudy. We haven`t seen the sun in more than a week. Which is good I suppose, but I could use a sunny day. Looks like we picked up another 3-4 inches last night too. Just in case you are wondering we have a solid 3 feet on the ground and ‘they’ are calling for around 6 inches more in the next couple days!!! Now…..on to the trails…

The boys haven`t been doing a good job of letting me know how their runs went….just a simple text or quick call will do boys….but I know we are in good shape. I ran the Falls trail #45 Saturday night and it turned out in pretty good shape. I DID NOT break through any water holes but there are a couple of soft spots and a couple of bumpy spots from the ground heave in the low lands from freezing. The Point trails #452 and 453 are good and the Pine Stump trail #8 is good but alot of drifting problems on this trail around the old burned area. I know all this from talking with some of the snowmobilers. Trail #8 south through our swamp is still not passable but is getting close…the gates are still closed in there.

We still have that darn groomer down…it is causing us FITS!!! Just can`t figure it out. We have replaced the lift pump, the injector pump and all the injectors and it still won`t fire. We are leaning towards an electrical problem now, maybe the brain fried, I know ours are!!! Any good diesel mechanics out there that can come UP??

This coming weekend is a holiday weekend. You won`t be disappointed if you come UP…plenty of snow and the trails are good. If we can get this other groomer running we`ll be in great shape….if not….we’ll still be good to go. We just need it going to get into the south swamp more. All I got today, keep checking back. LET ER SNOW Groomer Chris

Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 01/09

January 9th, 2017

Trail conditions are excellent – aside from some unavoidable wet holes in a few spots. Riders, as well as our groomer drivers, report awesome conditions. We’ve had the extreme cold temps plus the snowfall over this last week to add up to exactly what we needed. As usual, the most snow is over the northern most trails, less as you head south on trail 1 south and 13 south, but what a difference a few miles can make. When you get up on trails 13 north, 1 north and 102 you’ll see what I mean! Almost too much snow…if that’s possible. Continue to watch for a wet hole towards the north end of 102, but it is possible to ride around it without getting wet. Also, there remain a couple of wet areas on trail 1 south to be aware of, however a lot of riders bypass this just by riding the lake.
The weather pattern for the rest of the week continues to look good with highs in the teens/twenties with additional snowfall through the week.

As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticked. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic.

*HEADS UP: This upcoming Saturday January 14th there will be an ice rescue demonstration just off the Bergland Dock around noon/1:00 e.t., so please use caution traveling through this spot.

. *If you’d like additional information about our area please contact The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at 888.GOGEBIC or www.lakegogebicarea.com.
