Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 02/28

February 28, 2017

31 degrees this morning, cloudy and windy. I suppose I`ll start with the weather again. Today ‘they’ are calling for rain/sleet with a high in the upper 30`s then the temps drop off for a few days with snow in the forecast. ‘They’ are saying highs in the low 20`s and lows in the single digits to low teens after today until about Saturday afternoon then start to warm up a touch. With today going to be warmer the darn road commision will have the roads all bare again and the plowed dirt roads all down to mud again. Wish they would cut us a break!!!

As ya`ll know January wasn`t the greatest weather for us snowmobiliers and February was less than stellar. Its lookin like March will follow the same pattern……bummer. Been a tough winter on all of us….especially us business owners, but ain`t nuttin we can do about it!! I think our trails were OK this year despite the weather problems and the machine problems we had at the start of the season.

Been busy around my place the last couple days and I was outa town all day yesterday so I can`t say for sure what went on out at the barn. I did drive by the barn yesterday and noticed some groomers were out but I don`t know were they went….sorry…..I`ll have more info for ya`s tomorrow. I can tell you we still have a solid couple foot on the ground though.

Keep checking back, I`ll do better fer ya`s tomorrow morning, I promise.

Groomer Chris

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and trails are in fair to good condition. The groomers are out.

The CopperDog 150 sled dog race will be held on portions of the Keweenaw Trail System March 3rd through March 5th. Please use caution and take advantage of alternate routes.

We are unable to groom on Trail #3 between the Portage Lift Bridge and South Range due to extremely low snow cover.

All of trail #122 is closed for logging.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away. Use caution around logging areas.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.
