Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/31

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – Made it all the way thru trail 480, Kinross to Raco with groomer and no issues. A couple of small wet spots but they should be frozen for sleds now. Same is true for trail 49, Soo to Kinross. Both have snow and rideable but not very smooth yet. We will let them set for a couple days before hitting them again. Now that We have packed that snow down into the wet spots we need to let it freeze to hold the 10000 pound groomer. The rest of our trails are in fair to good shape. Though there is less snow around Kinross.

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/31

That’s the way I like it…..minus 23 this morning. Cold and crunchy with no new snow. The first three sleds of the day have already rode into here and they said they left from Blue Lake. Trailer counts in town were down a bit this morning with 7 at the days inn and 27 at the Ramada. I saw a few trailers heading south out of town this morning. Yesterday was by far the busiest day of the season with sleds coming in from all directions. Reports of both good and bad trails. When there are that many riders out there even a nicely fresh groomed trail will seem like there hasn’t ever been a groomer on it even thought it might have been done a couple hours earlier. I also heard of several accidents yesterday but luckily none of them really serious. Please ride safely out there.
