Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/19

Our temps for the next several days will be in the 20’s and 30’s with lows in the single digits and teens. We received 5″ of new snow from the system that came through yesterday. We are expected to pick up another inch or two today. Because of low traffic, the trails are awesome. Now is the time to enjoy some great riding.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority:
Grooming is ongoing. Trails are holding up with our good base and lots of snow. Groomers are reporting all trails are in good condition. Please use caution on corners they can be icy. The DNR reports that trail 11S will be closed due to logging this winter.

The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report:
Grooming is ongoing. Trails are in excellent conditions. We will continue to groom until the end of March.

The Watersmeet groomer’s report:
We are Grooming Nightly as long as the temps allow us to get out and groom.
Trails are in good shape a few icy corners with a little dirt in some spots, roads and gas stations are down to pavement. Still plenty of snow to ride on
*CAUTION WATER ON TRAIL# 3* Trail 3 south of Watersmeet, south of US45 heading to Land O Lakes has an area where a creek has dammed up flooding water and ice onto the trail. PLEASE USE CAUTION – Caution tape is up but other areas could form! We are working on the issue, equipment and people could be on the trail also!

All other trails are in good to excellent condition! Come Ride!
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.
