Benzie Area Trail Report – 02/04

Trail Report 2/4/2014 Trail #3 Alysworth Rd. North to Maple City, Beulah #395 , Landis Loop and Bear Lake Spur #386 to Pleasanton were all groomed today. The track groomer is coming down the trail tonight from T-ville to Kaleva and we will be using it to groom Trail #3 from Kaleva to High Bridge tomorrow. Base average is 12 inches, pack is solid and riding conditions are excellent.

Club trail from Chief Rd into Saddle Up Gas & Grocery can not be groomed at this time due to safety issues. In the meantime we ask that if you use the trail to stay on it and do not go around it on private property.

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 2/3

Happy Monday! Trails are looking pretty good. Base is a good 12′ but some drifts are 3ft high so drive safe, visibility is a bit limited! Trails are groomed but there’s lots of snow, hard drifts and some bumps out there! Snowbirds are unable to get the groomer down the club trail that goes from Chief Rd into the Saddle Up in Bear Lake. It is not wide enough and with the extra snow the groomer hits off trees, so we will need to get some volunteers to get in there and remove some more trees. Until then, because it is not a DNR trail, the grooming isn’t paid for and if the machine gets damaged the Snowbirds have to foot that bill out of pocket. Volunteers needed! This is a trail they hope to have approved by the DNR by next season but want to keep all the private property owners on board as well. If ya see a big green machine, stay outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they pass by! THANKS TONS for the email Dave B! Be smart, be safe, have fun and I’ll SEEYA on the trails! Carol
