Michigan Trail Report

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/08

Saturday temps will climb slightly to mid 30’s with snow showers and sleet in the forecast. Cooling down Sunday and Monday to the upper 20’s. Take advantage of riding while traffic is down and trails are still in good condition.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: Reports trails are good with a few icy spots. Trails 11S, 11N and 160 are freshly groomed and very nice. Please be careful on hills and corners which can be icy. Roadways and some parking lots are bare.

The Lake Gogebic groomers report: Good conditions on the trails, but watch out for some icy corners. Due to reduced traffic, the trails are holding up nicely, especially in the woods. Some bare conditions in and around towns or where trails cross roadways. Grooming will continue as long as possible throughout March. There have been reports of snowmobiles running on the railroad tracks through Bergland. Watch for trail signs and stay on snowmobile trail. The two run right next to each other and it is an easy mistake to make-but you will be ticketed if caught riding on the railroad tracks.

The Watersmeet groomers report:
The trails are as smooth as can be and are holding up well. Looks like we might get another week or more if we make it past Saturday. Let’s hope for all snow and no rain mixed in. Road crossings and parking lots are almost bare.

Keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.

Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
