Cadillac Area Trail Report – 03/05

Snow accumulation: 15 inches* (in the forest–up to 24 inches)

If you had a chance to ride in the area this weekend, it was certainly an adventure–no one expected. When I mentioned in Saturday’s post ‘expect the unexpected’, I had no idea how right on I was because that is exactly what sledders found around every corner when they hit the trail that morning. Trees down, snow-laden branches overhanging the trail and debris everywhere. Saturday made for fun riding, Sunday it became more frustrating. Granted people had found routes through, around and on top of the trees and debris but the trails were showing signs of wear due to traffic and warm temperatures not to mention no grooming. Yesterday, wasn’t much better. The groomers are out there every day but don’t make much headway as they have to stop to clean debris as they go. We have guys in 4 x 4s helping too. Our priority now is to CLEAN THE TRAIL TO MAKE THEM SAFE and to get our equipment through safely as well. We apologize that some of the trails are getting pretty rough because we can’t get to them. Hopefully we will soon.

As for riding in the area, play it smart by trailering to Staging Area near a groomer barn. That would be the Caberfae Staging Lot of M55 and Boon by the Boon Grocery. Leaving west from the 33 Rd Staging Area will be rough for a short distance before you pick up the groomer trail. There’s smooth riding in the area where the groomers are working so go for it. But continue to ‘expect the unexpected.’ Have fun, be safe.

Staging areas: Our trail system has numerous staging areas for your convenience:

Tustin
Bristol
33 Rd (Off M55)
44 Rd (Off M115)
27 Rd (Off M55)
Caberfae(Off M55)

Have fun and ride safely.
