Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/13

Greetings from the Keweenaw! A beautiful blue sky sunshiny winter morning. Trails are being groomed and are in pretty good shape considering the crazy weather we’ve been having.

President’s Day Weekend coming up and lodging is getting tight again. If you plan to come to the Keweenaw for the weekend, you might want to get reservations. If you’re having trouble finding a place, give us a call at 1-800-338-7982, as we keep an updated list of availabilities.

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Monday, February 13, 2012.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Trails are in good to very good condition except for Trail 133 which is in poor to fair condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!! Please watch out for deer on the trails too.

There is logging on a portion of Trail 133.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
