Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/01

Greetings Sledders,

We picked up a few inches of snow over the weekend and everyone who was here reported good rides and that is taking into account the typical Saturday afternoon conditions.

Our entertainment came from watching the Mayer twins, 7 year old Bryson and Kiersten, ride their 120 Polaris around and around and around the parking lot. They ride one up, two up, pull each other on a sled and do a mock starting line hole shot, to the extent that a 120 will actually pull a hole shot. Real cute to watch.

LET’S GET ON WITH IT:

WEATHER:
This is certainly the hot topic and you downstaters and out of staters probably know more about it than we do. We are currently in the 4-6" area and if it’s wet system snow like we are hoping for it will really help with the base building.

TRAIL CONDITIONS:
Right now the trails are in good condition and will improve with the anticipated snow. The only trail segment that I don’t care for is #7 to Frederic which is snirty and that too will improve.

GROOMING:
We are on our regular schedule and I see no reason to deviate unless there’s a breakdown.
On the topic of grooming, three riders tried to pass me on a corner Saturday night and didn’t make it as usual. This is never a good idea and rarely ever works. I knew they were there and about halfway through the corner I looked at the camera monitor and they were gone. This triggers an emergency shut down and there they were, pinned between the drag, a wall of snow and the inside of the corner. Please don’t try this. We know you’re there and will get you by us as soon as we safely can.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls
