Drummond Island Trail Report – Drummond Island Snow Report – 01/20
THURSDAY’S SNOW GAUGE REPORT (1-20-11): Holding strong at 9 inches! With today’s bitter cold temperatures this snow is not going anywhere! SNOWMOBILING FANS: East End conditions are poor due to snow being blown off the trails. There are 2 areas that have been plowed down to almost gravel. INTERNATIONAL ICE BRIDGE TO CANADA: The *building* of the ice bridge will happen on Saturday, January 22nd. Customs officials will begin to man the Island offices full time on January 23rd and the Bridge will officially open at that time. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING FANS: All trails are OPEN! The Rainbow Trail system has been groomed. The fresh snow is exhilarating! SNOWSHOEING FANS: All trails are open for snowshoeing! Local volunteers have been out on the Heritage Trail system making improvements to the signage. It’s GREAT to be a Northerner when the snow is fresh and deep! ICE SKATING FANS: The local rink is open and waiting! Grab your skates, a thermos of hot cocoa and head down to the Townhall. The ice is slick and fast! Saturday, January 29 ยท 5:00pm – 11:30pm Games, Raffles, and lots of FUN for an awesome cause! 24 foot long Buffet will start at 6:30 p.m. Event sponsored by the Drummond Island Homemakers The M.I.R.A. Snowmobile Race on Drummond Island has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts. However, the Drummond Island 1 Lunger 2011 is still a go for February 12 – 13, 2011. The Groomer has been out on the trails twice in the last 48 hours and reports he is left a nice trail behind him as he works his way over the trail system on the West End.
