Wolf Lake Motel Trail Ride Photos – January 6, 2011

Hi All. I just got back from a short 40 mile ride on one of our new rental Polaris Shift’s and was quite surprised how the trails were. I rode trail 340 north out of Wolf Lake and then took 35 west to 340 south then 3 north across five mile to 340 south and was quite pleased except some of 3 where it is tight and twisty, has a fair amount of ice chunks on it and I was kicking a rock to two here and there. All of those trails were panned and I also rode some seasonal roads and two tracks that were all snow covered and very nice. I didn’t see any other riders and that always seems to make riding better. THIS IS WHY I RIDE DURING THE WEEK. As long as we get the snow that is forecasted the trails will stay pretty fair, if we don’t it’s hard to say. If we get tons of riders again, this will impact the trails too. There some pictures of today’s ride on our web site.

It’s been snowing all week, plus all the local TV stations have us in a Lake Effect Snow Advisory for today 1-6-11 on through Saturday 1-8-11 with accumulations of another 6′ to 12′ possible. The groomers for Irons, Baldwin and Benzie/Manistee have been out panning, preparing the trails for the new forecasted snow. PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE SOME ICE FROM LAST WEEKS MELT AND REFREEZE, SO USE CAUTION. Be aware that after the state wide melt down last week we are starting from scratch, so even with the new snow, it will be early season riding. If you have realistic expectations of early season riding, you will have fun, if you want perfect conditions you won’t be happy. We do have a couple rooms and rental snowmobiles left for this weekend and next week. Call us at 231 745 4101 8am until 10pm.
