Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/15
1/15/24 7 degrees this morning and cloudy. We got a couple inches of snow last night on top of the couple yesterday. I`ve got some good news and I`m afraid I got some bad too. Lets start with the good…… Groomer Kevin went around the Point trails and called them fair to good. A couple of thin spots on top of the far east ridge but more good than anything else. I got the town trail set but that is about it cause this happened….read on…. Groomer Mike H. had a big problem on the Falls trail. Long story short he sunk a groomer in a DEEP mud hole. We did get it out eventually but it took our other 2 machines and a lot of work. Groomer Mike C. got called off his run to Pine Stump and we had to wait for Kevin to finish up the Point trails to go rescue the other Mike. Once we got the groomer outa the mud hole it died so we had to tow it back to the barn. Today we are gonna work on the dead groomer, hopefully its nothing serious. We will then hit the Stump trail tomorrow and come up with a plan for the rest depending how our dead groomer works out. PLEASE people, do not go around the closed gates! Case in point here is the sunk groomer. A sled would have disappeared in that hole! OK, enough of that. We should be good to go on the high ground trails for this weekend, I kinda have my doubts on the Falls trail and South trail but we have the whole week to work on them and we WILL bust our butts to try and get them open. 10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD.
Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails......
Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up.
Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.
