Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/28
January 28, 2021
15 degrees this morning with a real light snow floating around in the air. I picked up just a heavy dusting of snow last night here at my place. We were supposed to get a couple-few…..figures. The snow we got the night before and yesterday added up to about 5-6 inches here, some places a little more, some places less. The snow is really light and fluffy, typical lake effect. We are supposed to get an inch or two today.
I did stop by da barn yesterday afternoon and here`s what we came up with. We will let the snow settle in today and then tomorrow groom up all trails. We`ll see how that goes and then determine if we can keep on going.
If you`re thinking about coming UP this weekend expect fair conditions. Pretty much like early season. WE NEED MORE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
