Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/11
December 11, 2021
I normally do my reports in the morning but its been a busy day and I`m just gettin time now. Got all good news for ya`s.
Its 1800 hrs and 30 degrees and the sky is clearing. Woke up this morning to about 3 inches of slush on my deck. Kinda disappointed what with the forecast and all. We were supposed to get hammered last night but by 0830 it started to snow HARD! I picked up around 9 inches this morning thru about 1400 hrs. I`ve got a solid foot and a half on the ground here but one of our groomer drivers that lives south of town said he`s got close to 2 and a half feet. So thats the weather. Here`s whats been going on with the trails……
Last Thursday we took 2 machines and 3 guys and went around the Point trails #452 and #453. The main mission was to trim trees that were too close to the trail cause we got rid of our narrower Trooper groomer and our newer ones are a tad wider. We ended up cutting down 15-16 trees on the inside of the corners to give us (and you) more room. We got the trail all packed in with the groomers also. We were surprised we didn`t run across any water holes. Even the big one on the north side of #452 that we have had trouble with the last couple of years was dry!
Now, with all this new snow we came up with a plan…..Tomorrow we are heading to the Falls on trail #45 with just 2 machines. We`ll try and get all the water holes filled in and do whatever brushing needs to be done. Then Monday we are gonna head south and set the town trail then check out the federal forest section and see what that looks like. If we have time we might go thru our infamous swamp and work on that on the way back. We will start grooming all of them up as soon as the weather allows! Stay tuned for that.
Here`s a tidbit of info you might be interested in (or not), but you should.
Today we had a CPR and emergency first aid class for all groomer drivers. I don`t know if we are the only club in the state to be certified in this but if somebody else knows let me know. We are proud of this. Think of what this means to you if something would happen out on the trail. A HUGE thank you goes out to Renee Gray, head of the Whitefish Township EMS for doing this for us!!!!! THANK -YOU!!!!
I`m gonna be really busy the next couple of days as I`m going out on the trails everyday but I`ll try and keep ya`ll informed when I can.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris
