Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/07

February 7, 2019

18 degrees this morning and cloudy. We are under a winter storm warning for today and a blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow. "They" are calling for 6-12 inches and windy. I mention this cause I`ve had a couple phone calls asking how much snow we have left. Apparently down below has lost most of their snow. We haven`t lost any, we have waist high snow in the woods.

Now, go back and read my report from the 5th. This ice storm we had is really kicking our butts. The trails are all in excellent shape but the trees and branches leaning in on the trails is miserable. We have spent MANY, MANY hours trying to get it cleaned up but have a TON of more work to do. So please be patient.

If you`re coming UP this weekend, I say absolutely. Just don`t go flying around. Expect alot of face slappers hanging in the trails until we can catch up.

Thats it for today. I`m going out to work on the trails some more.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on Mother Nature……lets see what else ya got!!!!!!!!!! We are Yooper tough!!!!!!!!!!

Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/05

February 5, 2019

1 degree this morning with a bright blue sky. We picked up about 2 inches of snow last night though. But, we have a bigger problem….we picked up a half inch of freezing rain yesterday. Everything is coated in ice and it is a MESS!!!! Haven`t had power since last night, I`m running on a generator right now.

We did get in the morning runs before this stuff hit us hard.

Groomer Dave M. ran the south trail #8 and Groomer Don ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and both reported them to be in excellent shape. Then it started to freezing rain really hard and we lost power and we couldn`t run the other two trails.

Needless to say, there are ALOT of trees and branches down on the trails now. It is gonna take us a couple days to get things back in shape, so be EXTREMELY careful out there!!!! If you are out riding today, please give us a hand and stop and pick up what trees and branches you can. It sure will make our job easier the next couple days!!

The next couple days will be a challange, but with a little help from you all, we will overcome. It is really a mess out there, so be careful!!!

But, I`ll say it again…….LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
