Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/18

December 18, 2019

3 degrees this morning and snowing on and off. We picked up about 2 inches of snow last night. The weather guessers were calling for a lot more which we were hoping for. It is supposed to get up into the 30`s this weekend which isn`t gonna help our cause any. Here`s whats been going on the last couple days……

We still haven`t made it through the Point trails #452 and #453. We have spent 2 days trying to cut through and it looks like it will be at least one more. Besides the trees down there is a lot of water on these trails.

Yesterday, groomers Dave M., Kevin, Jack and myself took 2 machines and made our way south of town. The good news is we made it thru "da swamp" but it is NOT RIDEABLE with sleds. The gates are closed, don`t even think about going around them. The rest of the trail going south of the river is ok with just a couple small wet spots so we left the gates open for this section. With the weather warming up this weekend we will not go back in there till it cools down again, plus we need more snow to fill in the water holes.

The Falls trail #45 is still too wet to open the gates on. The only trail that is rideable is Trail #8 heading to Pine Stump. Loggers are in there though so watch out for them. They will be outa there at the end of this week and thats when we`ll go back in and groom the rest of this trail.

Soooo….for all of you thinking about coming UP this weekend….riding can be had, but I would suggest waiting another week….just my honest opinion because of the warm up coming for this weekend.

All fer now……LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/15

December 15, 2019

20 degrees this morning and snowing. Looks like we picked up about 3 inches of fluffy lake effect last night. Here`s what went on yesterday…..

Groomer Kevin and Chic Drisdrowski ( I think I spelled that right ) from Chics hot dog stand out on trails #452 and #8 took off in a groomer at 10 am to hit the Point trails. I talked to Kevin briefly this morning on how it went. He told me the Point trails are a total mess…..tons of trees blown down and a fair share of water. He said they busted their butts until dark and then headed back to the barn. He is back out there again today, more on that in a minute.

Groomers Mike, Gerald, myself and a NEW GUY Zack Ferguson ( WELCOME!!!!! ) plus a guy who drove all the way from Mt. Pleasant to help us who`s name is Mike Hoffman all took off towards Pine Stump on Trail #8 at 10am also. We took the remaining 2 groomers and Mike H. rode his sled with a tobagan in tow and took off in front of us. Talk about a mess!!!! We have never seen it this bad as far as trees down!!!!! Long story short, we made it as far as Little Lake off of CR 500 and turned around after a HARD 8 hrs of work, and we had 6 more to go to get back to the barn!!! The rest of the trail to Pine Stump shouldn`t be too bad as far as trees down cause there ain`t to many left after the fire a few years back.

Now, back to Groomer Kevin. He is back out on the Point trails today with Groomer Scott and ANOTHER NEW GUY Dale Grahm ( WELCOME to you too!!! ). They took 2 machines and are gonna try and tackle the rest of the Point. I will hear from him tomorrow to see how that went.

All fer today…..just trying to keep y`all updated.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
