Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/08

Greetings Sledders,

Had a great time today off trailing it with brothers Greg and Ben from PA., and longtime friends of Fay’s Gordon and Mary along with groomer jockey Bill. We rode the Lovells trail to Jones Lk. Rd. then north to the air to ground range. Didn’t get much of an air show but it was good to get out and find some fresh powder to play in.

When we split up I decided to hit the Frederic trail to get a better idea on how it came through the Saturday thaw. The assessment is that it weathered it better than I thought it would. Not great which is not surprising because we’ve not experienced great in years, but not too bad either.

There have been a number of sledders in all week and all are satisfied with the trails as a whole in the region.

I’M HUNGRY SO LET’S GET TO IT

GROOMING:
We have everything back in shape after Saturday’s surprise thaw. Didn’t see that coming with such intensity, but it did. On schedule for the rest of the week.

TRAILS:
I’m going with fair to good, although all the folks that are here are perfectly happy, we still have to consider the purists that are out there and call it conservatively as has been our practice over the years.

WEATHER:
Nothing in the way of new snow in the immediate future and there looks to be another thaw but that doesn’t appear to happen until Sunday.

Ask your doctor if snowmobiling is right for you. God I hate commercials.

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/03

Greetings Sledders,
Quick update, I’ve been in the seat for 8 hours today and I’m on the tuckered out side of things. It was real nice to see a white snow ribbon flowing from the back of the drag all day long and it’s certainly about time.

We got 6-8" out of the storm and the trails are the best that we’ve seen this season. I’m going to give them a B to B plus and that rating does not take weekend traffic into consideration. In other words don’t take a ride at three in the afternoon on Saturday and call me a fibber. Weekend traffic is weekend traffic and there’s nothing that we can do but to go in the afternoon and evening hours both days.

I would say that now is the time to pull the trigger especially if you’re able to get out next week which is what yours truly is planning to do if my lifelong friend Robin can get his sled running or if my other pal (friendless Bob) can make it up and we will be off trailing in fresh powder all day with the occasional sidebar to Lovells for food and gas. Hopefully we’ll get an air show as a bonus.

Temps look to flirt with the freezing mark over the weekend and that’s a good thing and it looks like some freshening up type snows are in our near future.
