Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/30

OK, we are done with the thaw. We hit just 37 here at our house yesterday and had just a touch of rain. It is 32 here now and dropping and it is snowing. We are under all kinds of watches and warnings and the weather guessers are calling for 6-12 inches, depends what site you look at.

pic… is Monday at 4:00pm on trail 8…near Black Lake….trees are heavy with snow and bending ..branches breaking off…

We did groom last night and I`ve talked to all the groomers who ran and this is what they told me……

Groomer Ben did the Falls trail and he reports it in excellent shape.

Groomer Bob did the Pine Stump trail and he would rate is as good. The only problem area is a 2 mile section were they are logging.

Groomer Don did the Point loop and he rated it as better than good, not quite excellent.

We skipped the south trail outa town cause of the fear of breaking through the swamp. I am gonna run it tonight, I`m thinking it is still in good shape based on the other reports, unless I break through tonight, It could get interesting.

So there you have it, we survived the slight warm up. The guys are telling me it actually did us alittle good. Everything is FLAT and we are supposed to get a bunch of snow the next couple of days….maybe a foot plus!!!! No worries, come on UP and lets ride!!! LET IT SNOW!!! – Groomer Chris

Grand Marais Trail Report – 01/30

EVENIND UPDATE: The Trail Boss, Norm, has released the Cats! The groomers will be heading out at 7 tonight.

You are all probably worried about the warm up we had. It got up to 37 degrees here yesterday but thankfully no rain, maybe a little misty stuff in the fog but nothing to worry about. We kept the groomers in last night and it’s cooling down; it’s 29.7 this morning and the temperature is supposed to keep dropping; staying in the teens the rest of the week. The NWS snow map shows we really haven’t lost any snow and another storm is on her way; expected to bring 6 to 12 inches of fresh snow. Things in Grand Marais are good!
