The Department of Natural Resources and Environment today announced
that the Raco Snowmobile Trail from Paradise south to Silver Creek
(Trail #8) and the Tahquamenon Falls trail (Trail #45) has been closed
and gated for the season due to unsafe trail conditions. The current
unseasonably warm weather coupled with the lack of snowfall has made
this closure necessary.
Snowmobilers planning to travel to the eastern Upper Peninsula are
advised to check trail conditions daily as they are changing quickly
with the current weather conditions.
Questions concerning this closure may be directed to Newberry Fire
Supervisor Paul Gaberdiel at 906-293-3293, extension 4740, or DNRE

Traverse City Trail Report - Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals - 03/07
Trail Report by Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals
Trails are thinning out fast. They were ok in the morning yesterday and then kinda went down hill. Trail 5 is down to dirt towards Ranch Rudolph, Going from the Ranch to Fife is not very good either. Trail 55 to Kalkaska is a bit more snow covered and still has potential for this week. The biggest problem we are running into will be warm temps. The forecast for most of the week is Sunny and 40’s to 50 on Tuesday. For those of you calling for condition updates, I appreciate the calls, however this report is accurate and what I tell you over the phone will be no different. We may be able to send sleds out towards the weekend if the temps don’t destroy the base and the groomers get back out again. I wish I had better news for you.

OK, for all of you from out of town, Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals is now able to book "stay and play" snowmobile packages for you at the Tamarack Lodge, Pointes North Inn, Cherry Tree Inn, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, and more. Let us make a great vacation getaway easy for you!
Visit Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals Website >>>>Good Morning,
The temps have been very warm and looks like those temps will hold through next week.
A guest leaving this morning reported trail #8, 432 and 433 are still in good shape. Trail #9 is okay. I walked around the north end of the lake yesterday afternoon, was able to stay ontop of the snow in most places. When I did break through the snow I went down about 10″ to 12″. It’s beautiful again today, if this keeps this could be the last of the season unless we get a snow storm soon. History tells me there is snow in the future, but who knows when. Guaranteed it will be before Memorial Day.
Report copied and pasted from TASA:
All trails are in good/fair condition but we have had a little meltdown due to warmer weather so please be careful and enjoy the riding. The trails in town are just in fair condition but as you go out north they get better and are in good condition. We only got about 4-6 inches of snow Friday night. Warm weather forcast for the up coming week. Mid 30’s
Trail #9 north is in fair condition.Watch for water on the trail when leaving the staging area near the railroad tracks, Once you get past the 3 mile staging area things get better. The base is 6-8 inches north and groomers are reporting fair conditions. Be carful on the straight away between M-123 and 3 mile staging area, mogals form there quick depending on how many sleds go over it. There are some bare spots close to town. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE IS LOGGING ON THE TRAIL ABOUT 8 MILES NORTH, SO WATCH FOR LOGGING TRUCKS
Trail #45 North is in fair condition with a 6-8 inch base, but, there are 2 logging areas on it. One north, and one south, of the Skyline Trail Head. It is plowed and can be rough at times. The trail from Co. Rd. 500 to the Falls is in fair shape. Due to ice it took the groomer 3 attempts to get up the hill just south of M-123
Check the snow depth map to see all the snow that we have here at Halfway Lake.

Poor - fair - good, pretty much covers our trails, there are some bare spots, and some water to watch for, but there is still a fair amount thats holding up so far, it is suppose to be warm all week, and it doesn’t look like we will be grooming ,unless it turns alot colder, we don’t want to make the trails worst by breaking the ice bridges. The traffic is very light, so hurry on up, this might be last week for decent trails

Ishpeming, MI Snowmobiling Update
Sorry about the late report this week, I have been having some computer problems. On to the report: The weather has warmed and melted some snow and softened the trails. Roads and High traffic areas are gonna be bare or rough. Trails are still very rideable, just need to exercise some caution. Get out and ride! this may be your last chance for the year.
Note: The Moose Country Snowmobile club now has a groomer parked on site in the Country Village so our spur is always the first to be groomed when they go out. So you can literally see the groomer leaving the garage to go groom the trails on a daily basis.
Weather
The weather has been warmer the last week and has melted some snow & softened up the trails.

Currently No Snow falling anywhere with warm up temps high 30’s to low 40’s by day to high twenty’s at night all week. Rain moving in Sunday to Wednesday. With melt down we lost some snow on our trail. The trail on Highbridge Rd. from Old House Rd into the woods on River Rd is dirt with sparse snirty in woods and the bridge is dirt along with some curves through-out south system. The south end from Copemish to Wellston is poor through woods with thin to no base. North end from Thompsonville to Maple City is fair to GOOD with 2 in to 5 in base, holding up well from snow fall two weeks ago. Joe from north end of trail said he rode on Tuesday down to Copemish it was good. But he tried to ride again Thursday said it’s groomed and it was only good from Maple city down to M-31 and down to Thompsonville is fair. So it looks like 40 temps are taking toll on all our trail. We have off trail ground cover of 1 - 6 inches.

Hi all, Well we’re starting to get a little warmer this week! High 30ish yesterday and today and up around 40 Friday and Saturday, with no snow forecast, so we’re losing a bit of the trail with every day right now, but its at least freezing up again at night. BUt you know how that makes the trail! It’s getting a bit snirty and soft on some curves and hills and showing thin in some areas. Kaleva area I’m told is thin with little to no base but yet the north end from Copemish to Maple City is better with 2 to 5in base yet, holding up with the snow that fell last week. Off trail depth and ground cover is anywhere from an inch to 6 or 8 inches! s. Trails were groomed from Copemish north to Maple city Monday night and they are trying again tonite since its still certainly ride-able but we’re gonna have to wait and see about the weekend. Keep up the snow dance and cross your fingers that we get colder. Remember the groomers are volunteers so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up. Hey thanks Steven and Patrick for the pics! OMG I LOVE EM! And thanks for the emails Rog and Craig !I love getting emails and hearing your stories and reports and pics! Remember this report is all of us working it together! BE SAFE, BE SMART, and I’ll SEEYA on the trails! Carol

Visit TheKeweenaw.com Website >>>>Season snowfall to date now 166.6" - with 21" on the ground-While days are getting milder, overnight temps very cold. Some streets & crossings are bare. Best riding early in the day as trails will soften up by mid-afternoon.

Appreciate any help on this.
WATCH FOR GROOMERS Keep in mind the groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, and PLEASE pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.
SIGN VANDALISM RESULTING IN SERIOUS SITUATION

St. Ignace Area Trail Report - 03/05
Trail Report by North Guide
I just listened to the message from last nights groom on the Northern Loop.
I am sorry to say, that we are about all done. I could pick and choose and tell what is ridable, and what is not, but there is no decent loops, and no getting from one destination to another without encountering difficulty. This weekend and next weeks forecast shows no signs of snow, and temps above freezing for the next 10 days.
If you rode this area this year, thanks for checking out our local community, if not, then hopefully we will see you next season.
Once I have the final numbers, I will post up the tally, but I think we were on track to groom about 15% of our normal mileage this season. That is not to say the trails were bad all winter, in fact they were pretty smooth and ridable for a good chunk of the winter, there was just not enough snow to make bumps to groom.
This is the end to a sorry season on many levels. So this is Snow VP, signing off Trail Conditions for the 2010 season (unless we get a 100 yr snowstorm that is!)

Trail Report by Mancelona Motel
Well, we had a sled go out yesterday and they said that the Jordan Valley was still pretty good. If you go North, South, East or West, ya run out of snow … looking like the end to our season, but then again … next week may be another story.
Visit Mancelona Motel Website >>>>Good Afternoon,
The temps have held today they got up to maybe 33 degrees. The snow gauge is still reading 16″. It has been sunny all day. The plowed road out front is not rideable, but the easement is still in great shape making access to the trail from here still good.
I have three cabins of guests and will let you know what they have to say later this evening.
Below I’ve cut and pasted the TASA report.

Trail Report by Visit Newberry
Please be careful around corners there is ice under the snow in the curves. We have had warm days and cold nights the past two days. Some areas have dirt on them. Please stay on trails and try to avoid private property.
Due to heavy traffic and warmer weather we did haul snow into the trailhead at Timber Charlie’s to Slaughter House Road. We are trying to make your ride more enjoyable and minimize any wear & tear to your sled.
Mid 30’s

Trail #9 south to Hemlock Ridge road (trail 2) has up to a 3 inch base and is in fair condition.
Trail #2 From the Naubinway split to Rexton is in fair condition with up to a 3 inch base.
Trail #473 has about 7 miles of plowed road from Rexton south to Epoufette due to logging in the area. Please watch for trucks and deer in the area. The base is marginal to 3 inches and in fair condition.
South of 4 Corners going to Rexton trail has about 41/2 miles of plowed trails due to logging on the Luce/Mackinac county lines.
Trail #473 Rexton to Trout lake is in fair condition with up to a 3 inch base.
